Windows Live Writer

Microsoft has created a nice piece of software to use for blogging. Download Microsoft Live Writer and post blog articles along with photos and links. The software is WYSIWYG to easily layout the page you are writing.

This page was created using Windows Live Writer. (Unfortunately, the link is no longer active because Microsoft is updating the software. Go to http://live.com and you should be able to find the link, unless your computer is a Japanese one. If that is the case, you will have to change the settings on your computer to reflect the US and the English language, not Japan or the Japanese language.)

I can place pictures in the post, insert tags, links, and a map if I choose.

All you have to do is download the software, install it, then setup an account using your username and password you use in Kansai Blogger.

Go to the Weblog at the top of the window to setup a new account. Then click on Add Weblog Account. Once you've clicked that, next click on Another Weblog Service. Type in http://kansaiconnect.com/members/ and then your username and password. In the next secion, where it says Type of weblog that you are using: select Custom (weblog API). Then type in the following URL: http://kansaiconnect.com/members/xmlrpc.php. The setup wizard will connect to your blog and set everything up accordingly…as long as you typed in the information correctly along with your username and password.

If the categories in your blog don't show up, don't worry about it right now. We're working on getting it to list your categories correctly and should have a solution to that bug shortly. Please be patient! Thanks.

Now you can begin using the software to write your next blog post.

Give the blog post a Title, and then some text. Edit it as you go and add some photos, links, or whatever you wish, then post.
