Using Widgets to Customize Your Sidebar

By installing the Widgets plugin in the Plugins area and using a widget-ready theme in conjunction with widget-ready plugins, you  can customize your sidebar using widgets.

Widgets are sidebar gadgets you can use to customize your site without the knowledge of HTML using plug-ins designed to do all sorts of things.

Some of the widgets available in Kansai Blogger are:

  • Page, Links, Calendar, Categories, Archives, Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Search, Meta, Text, RSS feeds, About Me, Dropdown Archive, Translator, Stats, UserOnline, Google Adsense, Flickr, Technorati, Del.icio.us, Feed Buttons, ClaimID and then some!

To use widgets, first make sure you are using a widget enabled theme. Login to you Dashboard, click on Presentation. If you have a widget enabled theme, you will see Sidebar Widgets available in the menu to the right of Themes in your Dashboard. If not, then your theme does not allow widgets.

If you do have a widget-ready theme, click on Sidebar Widgets and rearrange your sidebar by clicking on the Available Widgets and dragging them to the sidebar area in the order you wish. When you have finished, make sure you click Save Changes.

*If you are using Modzilla browser, you will not be able to rearrange your sidebar. To click and drag, use Microsoft Explorer or Opera browsers.

In order for Widgets to work, you must also have widget-ready plugins activated.
