Just found an app to help track your daily diet and nutrition. It’s called MyNetDiary.

There are two option. One you can use the app and tie it into a website so you can use it on your iPhone or computer. The other option is to just use it on your iPhone. I chose option 2 because I put the information in on the go more than I do sitting down.

I like being able to create my own recipes. Once I have created a recipe I can use it over and over to reduce time putting the information into the app. There are also thousands of other recipes and foods already available to quickly add to your daily diet.

The app tracks your food intake, exercise, weight, water intake, vitamins and meds. You can view charts and graphs, track the amount of nutrients and minerals you have consumed. It is easy to use and provides a great way to keep track of how many calories, fat, fiber, carbs and protein you eat each meal.

If you need to lose weight or just want to keep an eye on your health and eating habits, I highly recommend this app. To add one more point, this app is free and you don’t have to join any site to begin using it…unless you want to.

Click this link to download the app: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=287529757&mt=8

I know of a place at the other end of Matsuiyamate near Doshisha University. There is a park and skateboard park that people can use and I think it is free. People can play basketball and other sports there outside on the grounds.

Arakashi koen is a good park where lots of kids play on the Hashimoto side of Yawata or at Satsuki koen where kids can play baseball, soccer and tennis. Is that the kind of playing you are talking about?

In reply to - Yoshiko Ueda posted an update: Does someone know any place where little kids can play around Yawata city for free? The person who has informations, please let me know. · View

Thumbnail The lowest priced iPad is currently sold at around $499 in America and ¥48,960 in Japan and then goes up as harddisk space and other options are tacked on. If iPhone prices can come down to $97 at Walmart when the device used to be priced at a hefty $800, iPad could stand to shed some $ signs [...]

Thumbnail Costco has been raising prices on products as more and more people begin shopping at the Amagasaki store, not lowering them. As the demand gets higher, so do prices. Costco either does not have enough product to support the demand or they are raising prices because the demand for the product is great and Japanese [...]

Thumbnail I just bought a pair of shoes from Uniqlo that cost me ¥790. Now that is cheap! I thought they would be a waste of money because they were so cheap. A video of Sir Paul McCartney taking a stab at President Bush is no longer available on YouTube. How did that happen? Probably a call from the White House made the video disappear. It goes to show just how much weight President Obama and his administration have and hope to get more of by implementing [...]

According to the Washington Post, the Federal Trade Commission wants to change how the Internet delivers media and news by ” reinventing journalism “. What is the reason the FTC wants to do this?

“There are reasons for concern that experimentation may not produce a robust and sustainable business model for commercial journalism,”

Sounds more like they want [...]

What is with Japanese Prime Ministers? They don’t seem to stay around very long. Prime Minister Koizumi seemed to last the longest of any of the recent ones. Yukio Hatoyama, the current Prime Minister, has said he will now resign because Okinawans are upset that he went back on his word not to relocate the [...]

  • KByte posted an update in the group Kansai Rants and Raves:   2 months ago · View

My first post is both a rant and rave. First the rave. I love my iPhone! It is one amazing tool. However, on my recent trip to New Zealand, I used my iPhone only for a few minutes to download map data to help me get to my destinations driving. After returning home, I get a bill from Softbank that is about ¥38,000 more than my usual ¥12,000 monthly bill for two iPhones. After adding up what I would have had to download to incur those charges, I figured out I must have downloaded around 18 megabytes of data.

My rant is that Softbank charges WAY too much money for the amount of data downloaded. Their prices have gone unchanged for years while technology and equipment being used to provide Internet change almost daily. They sell 1KB of information for ¥2. For one 4 megabyte download 4096 KB of information, it would cost ¥8700 according to their website.

These prices are archaic! Here is their website: http://mb.softbank.jp/en/global_services/global_roaming/web.html

How can we make them change their prices? Of course, if some other company came in with lower prices that sold iPhones, that might help. But Softbank has cornered the market with iPhone and can basically charge whatever they want.

How about all us iPhone users in Japan fight them together?
